What to do when you are overthinking

1. Shift Your Focus

  • Engage in a physical activity like a walk, exercise, or deep breathing.
  • Listen to calming music or an audiobook.
  • Do something creative, like drawing or writing.

2. Take Action

  • If your thoughts are about a problem, write down possible solutions.
  • Set a small, immediate goal and work on it.

3. Challenge Your Thoughts

  • Ask yourself: Is this thought helpful?
  • Remind yourself that not every thought needs deep analysis.

4. Set a Time Limit for Thinking

  • Give yourself 5-10 minutes to think about the issue, then move on.

5. Practice Mindfulness

  • Focus on the present moment instead of "what-ifs."
  • Try meditation or guided breathing exercises.

6. Talk to Someone

  • Sometimes, expressing your thoughts to a trusted person helps gain clarity.
